I was in Brussels, Belgium last weekend. LOVED it. If Paris was the color purple, Brussels would be the color lavender. That is all–well for now. See, I was only there for two days and such a short visit left me feeling teased. I’ll be back in Brussels at the end of June for the Couleur Cafe Music Festival, so hopefully I’ll have an awesome photo essay and special interview to share with you.

Creative Inspiration | Nina Simone: To Be Free
05/06/2013 •
I find inspiration in many places, especially from musicians. One musician/artist whose work I’ve leaned on through out the years is the high Priestess of soul her self–Nina Simone. I’ve listened to her music to help me get out of emotional slumps, to prepare me for auditions (when I was acting), and to help me be more and feel more like myself..if that makes any sense to you. Here is a video of Nina Simone talking about the concept of Freedom. Watch, be inspired, and be moved.

Seduced by Paris
04/03/2013 •
I can now honestly say I GET how for decades Paris has attracted artist and creatives from all walks of life who were in search of a better life. Specifically artist of African decent. Artist like James Baldwin, Josephine Baker, Marian Anderson, and many more relocated to Paris and found good fortune. Interestingly enough, Paris was one of the first places outside of the United States to embrace jazz music with the help of Josephine Baker as their muse. There is a certain spirit that fills the air in Paris that continues to draw people to the city even to the point where they decide to relocate and call Paris their home.
moreDawn Montgomery Greene: Model With a Purpose
03/27/2013 •
I was back home in Atlanta a few week ago a I finally met fashion model and spokesmodel Dawn Montgomery Greene in real life. For the past couple year I’ve been following her on twitter and reading her blog, and I have always admired how well she photographs and is able to bring strong emotions emotions to the images that she is captured in. But it’s her story and her passion for educating society and defying misconceptions about mental health issues that really intrigued me the most about her. At the age of 16, Dawn was diagnosed with Bipolar Manic Disorder. Since then she has be using her voice to be an advocate for Mental Health while still managing a successful modeling career and balancing family life. Below is a brief interview I did with Dawn and the images I captured to tell her story..enjoy and be inspired.
